The Real Belize City Tour

“Travel back in time and into the present – experience the rich heritage, vibrant culture, and living history of Belize City like a true local.
You’ll discover the unexpected connection between Belize’s ancient past and its modern-day heartbeat.”

Take a scenic hour-and-a-half journey around Belize’s Old Capital, where history and culture meet in the heart of Central America. Once the hub of British Honduras, Belize City still carries the charm of its colonial past, reflected in its architecture, landmarks, and vibrant streets.

Along the way, you’ll admire elegant colonial-era buildings, visit the oldest Anglican Cathedral in Central America, and stand on the iconic Swing Bridge, the only manually operated bridge of its kind still in use today. The tour also takes you to the historic Lighthouse at Fort George, where the tomb of Belize’s greatest benefactor rests.

Beyond monuments and stories, this experience immerses you in the friendliness and warmth of Belize’s people, making it not just a history lesson, but a cultural connection you’ll remember long after your visit.

Swing Bridge

A true historical landmark of Belize, the Belize City Swing Bridge is the oldest swing bridge in Central America and one of the last manually operated swing bridges still in use anywhere in the world.

In its early days, the bridge was swung open every morning and evening to let traditional fishing sailboats glide upriver, delivering fresh seafood to cooperatives or setting out toward the offshore cayes. Today, while it no longer swings daily, the bridge is still opened on special request—a rare sight that connects modern Belize with its storied maritime past.
